55 Special

Hi!My sisters and I have been weekend patrons of your fine establishment for several years. We have always been quite satisfied with the service. We've always been treated with couresy and respect. Your staff have always been polite and friendly. I have eaten finger foods at your bar and found them quite yummy. It is safe and secure place to hang out, as I have never seen a fight and very rarely have I even seen anyone escorted out. I do however have an issue. The music. My sisters and I range from mid 30s to early 50s. We all agree that you are playing way too much techonotronic and remixes. If we wanted to listen to that we could go to one of the bars that cater to the yournger crowd. We would like to hear more of the original versions....the ones we've come to love on the radio. We all dance to a different beat and a variety would be nice. I love to dance...thats what I go for...but I'm not hearing anything that i want to dance to any more. I have noticed that your older crowd is starting to thin out. Could this be a part of the reason why? We baby boomers are the majority out there now, so it would be nice and probably profitable for you to listen to our requests. The last few times we've gone we haven't really had a great time ... not like we used to. I tell you what...let me DJ for the night and I'll get the dance floor rocking..(just kidding...but I could). Hope you address this to some measure.

I have been going to the 55 for about 10 years and I have never had a problem there I have meet some great friends and the staff is Excellent I feel save there is hardly any fights and you can enjoy yourself and feel very comfortable and the reason for that is because they do not let people in there that have had to much to drink and get carry away so I recommend it to young and old. So go and enjoy yourselves. Donna

I have been going to 55 for a few years now because the food is excellent,
the staff are friendly and always seemed to be having a good time.
I enjoy the dancing, the music, the atmostphere and feel secure.

To the guy complaining about not being let in because they said you had too much to drink

I'm pretty sure you wrote your review drunk. Because it makes absolutely no sense.

Friends & myself where at the 55 special did not enjoy ourselves totally.
The waitress that served out drinks was very rude.
I had order a ceaser drink upon sipping my drink it was very strong taste of tobasco sauce. Asked our server to return the drink and the problem. Well I cannot return it as was not the policy at 55 Special. While explain that all of us around the table sip my drink also remarked it was over prowering of tobasco sauce and unable to enjoy the drink. The server than picked up the drink with a reply that she would pay for it and return with another. Returning my drink she said the bartender remarks the drinks where pour or made no different than any other ceaser drinks. I never complained or asked but came with a lemon instead of a celery stick. Never had a lemon with a ceaser so thought it is the new way of serving a ceaser drink.
Through all this our serve came to our table less & less with long periods of checking on our table. One time a friend went to the bar to purchase a drink that did order and waited for long period of time. Serve did see the drink was retrieved and applougized for forgetting.
All in all great time with the listening to the music and entertainment. Staff need to remember the costumer is right or offer to talk to the manager.

I have been going to 55 Special for over 10 years, and have seen many changes over the years. I have interduced 55 Special to a lot of friends who go there regular that go both for dinner and dancing. I have always enjoyed the service and the greeting of the staff whom I have gotten to know.
But lately I am finding some of the staff (door men expecialy derel (George need to take a customer service course or something and learn as well to know when someone is drunk or not becuase arriving to the bar and not even started to drink and was told I could not enter cause I had to much to drink when I had only had two drinks and have attended the Bar on a number of times with alot for to drink then that. I had a birthday gathering meeting there that night that I had arranged and was turned away at the door. This was very unfar and uncalled we were treated very unfar so we and a large group of friends will no longer be going there for dinner at Caddy's or dancing at 55 and I will let people I know in the Barrie area know what happened. it may not mean anything to management but the $150 to $200 on weekends that my boyfriend and I spend there along with our friends as well. You will loss out on that and all the birthday gatherings we have had there for years. Your Door man or Balancer what ever you would like to call him Derek(George) really needs a leason in customer service.

With no thought, I have to rate 55 Special as excellent. The food, service, atmosphere is wonderful. Mom (soon to be 80) and I have frequented 55 Special for almost 2 years now. Yes, more and more people are adding it to their favorite list. How could they not.

When some of my friends and I like the nightclub atmosphere, it is 55 Special we head for. Why, becuase they have the same uniqueness. I feel safe, protected and can enjoy myself, knowing there is someone watching over me and my friends.
